
This is a powerful release–music for two violins performed by the mighty force that is Alexandr Bulov and Ilya Gringolts. Their performance of Duetti per
Nikolai Myaskovsky’s Sinfonietta, composed in 1929, is not only the longest work (at 24 minutes) on this disc, but also is the least compelling. The
Russian composer Edison Denisov (1929-96) was just old enough when he began his career to be immediately censored by the Stalinist-run Culture Ministry–like every other
